What is Decision Science?
Decision Science (also known as Decision Analysis) is a quantitative method that permits the systematic evaluation of costs and benefits associated with different courses of action when faced with discreet decisions.

The goal of Decision Science is to help one make consistently better choices by employing tools that are prescriptive in nature.

The benefits of Decision Science are essentially three-fold:

Systematically focusing on the one or two complex elements of any challenge, one reaches more supportable resolutions.

Describing the essence of a problem, clarifying objectives and determining viable solutions, one forms an objective foundation for making better choices.

Identifying & eliminating poor(er) alternatives, one reaches clear(er) and better choices more readily.

Decision Science FAQs

Why did TeamCo adopt the principles of Decision Science as the core of its investment philosophy?

TeamCo believes that Decision Science offers a rigorous, consistent, and structured foundation for alternatives investing. Decision Science allows TeamCo to consistently evaluate managers based upon criteria which we believe are essential to and demarcate success. TeamCo professionals are steeped in the adaptation of Decision Science principles to an asset management construct, having previously established a Decision Science-based investing approach at a successful, multi-manager, risk-averse investment business.

What is TeamCo’s primary concern that Decision Science helps resolve?

The TeamCo model replicates, with some refinements, what was implemented at the previous firm. In both examples, the priority was/is to avoid making bad investment decisions that lead to loss of capital and/or so-called headline risk. Also, the emphasis when underwriting any underlying manager, was/is to focus on the weighting and grading of explicit characteristics of the key people in charge.

How are MADA inputs informed?

TeamCo evaluates managers based on assessments from many mediums, and employs aspects of many different academic disciplines to better understand and evaluate distinct criteria. The TeamCo model makes extensive use of techniques and tactics to better glean relevant information needed to make thoughtful decisions.

What types of external support does TeamCo use?

TeamCo retains experts in the field of Decision Science and related arenas to augment our activity. These include individuals and firms with extensive backgrounds in the fields of counter-intelligence, law enforcement, psychology, and forensics accounting.
